Canada and Nepal established diplomatic relations in 1965. They have enjoyed longstanding bilateral relations, including a development cooperation program since 1968. Canada-Nepal Friendship and Cultural Society (CANFACS) was established in 2016 as a beginning of renewed people-to-people connections between the two countries that share common values of multiculturalism and social harmony.
